MacKay’s is committed to helping make change happen in our local communities. Through product donations, charity fundraisers and company sponsored campaigns, we want to give back to those families and communities who have supported us for nearly 75 years.

Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane & Area
The Boys and Girls Club provides a safe, supportive place where children and youth can gain new opportunities and experiences, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life!
MacKay’s believes in positive places like Boys and Girls Club, and supports their core values: Belonging, Respect, Encouragement & Support, Working Together, and Speaking Out. One of our exciting events was “Ice Cream Maker for a Day”. A unique and fun contest for the kids to come up with a flavour that represented the core values. The finalists got to come to our plant and make the winning flavour with us – Rainbow Road, a yummy raspberry ice cream with rainbow coloured Skittles®.
Camp Kindle
Owned and operated by the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, Camp Kindle’s core mission is to create magical camp experiences for children with cancer. Since 2013 MacKay’s has been excited to share in this mission by providing ice cream for their family bbq’s during the summer camp season.
Cochrane Activettes Foodbank & Cochrane Family and Community Support Services
At MacKay’s we believe in the importance of helping those in our community get back on their feet. By supporting great campaigns, like the famous Cochrane Outhouse Races, we are helping our friends and neighbours in need.
Big Brothers Big Sisters All Star Campaign
This amazing campaign which ran in the summer of 2016 raised over $230,000 for children and youth mentoring programs. MacKay’s was proud to support this campaign with funds raised through the sale the Big Brothers Big Sisters signature All Star Grape Float ice cream.
Cochrane Classic Ringette & Other Local Sports Teams
MacKay’s supports the local children and youth sports teams, and their importance in building skill, dedication and camaraderie.
Mental Health Awareness Week
MacKay’s believes in the importance of a healthy body, mind and spirit. We are pleased to support events with the Cochrane Addictions and Mental Health Services, and provide their signature Empowermint ice cream – green and white mint ice cream swirled with Junior Mint® chocolate pieces.
Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation
This foundation hosts a library and archives at the Cochrane Ranche House, commemorating the history and significance of the cattle industry – an important part of the past, present, and future in the Cochrane valley, and the rest of Canada.
Bylaw Tickets
Town of Cochrane Municipal Enforcement officers are ready to give you a ticket! …but not to worry, they are looking for kids 12 and under who are doing good deeds – picking up garbage, wearing helmets when riding bicycles, using seat belts, walking dogs on a leash! So the next time you get stopped by Bylaw, smile! You may get a free ice cream.
